Why must the weekends go by so fast? I feel like it was just Friday, and now I’m preparing for another work week ahead. Some of you may not know, but I work for a hospital here in Baton Rouge, and like in most jobs, sometimes my email inbox can get out of control. An overload of emails gives me extreme anxiety. So I really like to stay on top of it. Here are a few of my organization tips and tricks to keep the sanity.
At the beginning of every week I write out bullet points of the major things that I need to accomplish every day. If I didn’t write these out and check them off as I’m done, I would forget to do something. I do the most important first and work my way down from there checking off as I go.
I know it is old school, but I also keep a small notebook with me at all times, and it really helps for keeping track of what I need to get done.
How to tackle your email inbox
I have approximately 30 categorized folders in my email. Once I’ve read one, if it doesn’t require follow up, I move it to the folder it belongs in. If I have to follow up on one, I’ll flag it until it is answered, then I move it to it’s perspective folder. I NEVER keep more than 15-20 emails in my inbox ever… My general rule of thumb is if I have to scroll down to see the last email, than there are too many. Trust me, the emptier your inbox is, the better you’ll feel knowing everything is taken care of.
I recently started a new Sunday ritual, and I figured since it’s working pretty well for me, I’ll share it with you guys. Every Sunday I go through all of the emails that I wasn’t unable to get to the previous week and ensure that they are all answered and filed away. By starting Monday with an empty inbox, I feel more in control of taking on the week by storm!

My Casual Weekend Look
After all of the beer and king cake I’ve had this weekend, a baggy sweatshirt is about all I can wear today. I basically wear this shirt every weekend though. Its my favorite and was only around $6. I have a black one just like it and it’s a favorite too. They’re just so soft and comfy.
