7 Things to Pack for NYFW

August 22, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Planning to attend NYFW but not sure what to pack?  Of course you know you’ll need killer outfits and even better shoes, but what styles and what are some of the other items that you’ll get there and wish you had brought with you?  Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered…

What to Pack for NYFW

One:  The number one most important item is comfy shoes!  Trust me.  I’ve been to NYC a time or two and comfy shoes are a must.  If you want to wear those new heels you bought last week because they are the perfect match to your perfect NYFW outfit, by all means wear them.  Just make sure you have a backup pair of comfys in you purse.  You’ll thank me later!

Two:  Your camera.  You’ll want your camera to take a few shots of your outfits between shows and of the shows if you plan to post about them later.  Also, the city is beautiful, and sometimes those iPhone cameras just don’t do it justice.  I have this Sony one that is a great portable size.

Three:  Your laptop. You may have some downtime between shows (enough to stop and grab a bite to eat or coffee, but definitely not enough to cab it across town).  Having my laptop with me allowed me to catch up on emails and organize upcoming posts if I had a little spare time.

Four:  A LARGE handbag.  Its no secret that I love oversized handbags.  I probably throw way more in my bag than I’ll ever really need, but I’m always prepared.  Initially I thought I would just carry a small clutch like I normally do when we go to NYC, but with so many shows and showrooms back to back there is not enough time to return to the hotel.  I found it better to just have everything I’ll need with me all day.

Five:  A portable charger. I would actually suggest two. You’ll be taking so many photos and stories that your battery won’t stand a chance. My phone went dead by noon every day during FW SS17.

Six:  Outfits.  If you’re going to NYFW, obvi this is probably your number one focus. My advice is to dress for the weather, not for the season.  September in NYC is HOT. Like 85-90 degrees hot. As tempting as it may be to dress for fall, you will regret it!

Seven:  Nice Luggage.  Mahi Leather recently gifted me this beautiful leather columbus holdall to try out, and I cannot wait to travel with it!  Why Leather? Leather is used so frequently in fashion because it is durable, beautiful and classic.  It serves as a protectant to your items, and  its beauty usually improves over the years.  I love how timeless this duffle is, and the personalization gives it that extra special touch.

If you’re going to NYFW this fall, try to remember to stop and take a moment to just take it all in.  I cried the last time I went (I’m not normally a crier, like ever).  It was just something that I never thought I would experience first hand, and it was truly amazing to be a part of it all.  I will be skipping September, but hope to see you all in February!
