Hi Everyone,
I hope you’re all having a great New Year and a great week so far! I want to start off my post today by congratulating Kayla Price. Kayla, you won the giveaway featured last week! You can pick up a tank of your choice from Hey Penelope at 7317 Jefferson Highway. Also, I’d like to thank Hey Penelope for sponsoring the giveaway!
Today I’ll be showing you guys how I repainted this old, Craigslist desk and transformed it into a beautiful space for writing…
Enjoy!
The inspiration for this beauty started with a pin on Pinterest. I needed a desk for blogging, and after seeing this pin, I had to have a striped one. So, off to Hobby Lobby I went!
I purchased Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Lace & Carbon (2 of each), Americana Decor Creme Wax, 6 new drawer knobs, a roll of 2 inch painters tape and paint brushes. (Do yourself a favor, and invest in more than $1.97 brushes. It’ll save you a ton of work in the long run. I learned this the hard way.)
I began by painting 2 coats of Lace. The great thing about Americana Decor Chalky paint is that there is no prep required! You can paint over any existing surface.
After the Lace paint dried over night, I measured 2 inch marks for the stripes and laid down the painters tape.
I forgot to take a photo of the next step, but to prevent bleeding, I painted lace on top to seal the tape down.
After that dried, I painted 2 coats of Carbon over the exposed areas.
I let it dry for an hour or two and pulled off the tape to reveal these fabulous stripes!
The next morning I coated the entire desk in Americana decor creme wax with a lint free cloth, and I buffed it with another cloth about an hour later.
Lastly, I added these adorable gold drawer knobs to give it a glamorous finishing touch.
I am so in love with my new space, and I am positive that I will be spending many days writing here in the future. If any of you have home office styling tips, or have redone furniture of your own, I would love to hear about your experience!
Until next time,
Love it 🙂
Great Job!
Thanks Dawn!
Love this! The gold knobs add the perfect touch! I have a vintage dresser that’s been in my family for generations which regularly gets a paint job so it can remain fresh and coordinating in my 2015 apartment:-)
Thanks Jess!
